Fearless First Responders: Unity Lutheran Stewardship
On four Sundays this fall we will be surprised and stirred-up through stewardship skits brought to us by the Unity Players. Also, we look forward to four meaningful testimonies, as congregants step up from the Unity Assembly to speak from the heart about what makes them generous givers and thoughtful stewards, at Unity, and in their community.
Stories of First Responders capture our attention daily. Some paid, some volunteer – they are public servants who respond to emergencies of every type. We applaud their successes and bravery – and mourn with their families and communities, as some make the ultimate sacrifice, sometimes saving the lives of others.
In our local Unity Lutheran Assembly, all of us have the opportunity to be first responders, to fearlessly offer our gifts to God.
As Jesus taught, there are those among the rich and powerful, who sow seeds of fear-fulness, especially in a time of economic recession and political instability! Fear causes confusion about where our loyalties lie. We hold on or make impulse decisions about our gifts of time, talent and treasure.
God fearlessly gave us God’s son, Jesus. As we come to know Jesus, we learn fear-less living, fear-less giving, and fear-less service.
