                                                    Bike for Real

                                                    Two ways you can get involved - Biking and Donating. 


                                                    Biking


                                                    If you plan to bike for Bike for Real, you will first need to sign up. Use the form below to let us know the following information: Your name, Contact Information (Phone/E-mail), Preferred Contact Method, How many miles you are looking to ride during the Bike for Real challenge.

                                                    If you have people that would like to sponsor you, please direct them to this page so that they can receive more information on how to do so.

                                                    Come July 11, 2011 and you're ready to start biking, remember to keep track of how many miles you bike every day. If you need some assistance with calculating your miles you may want to check out Map My Ride and Google's Gmap Pedometer.

                                                    After calculating your miles for the day, come back here and use the form below to enter in your mileage. *Please Note* Remember to put your name in the message as well when sending in your mileage. Please try to send in your mileage every day so that we can keep an updated account of where all the cyclists are at.

                                                    The final day of the Bike for Real event is Saturday, July 16, 2011. Be sure to submit all your mileage by midnight on that day. Then, bike to church the next day for a delightful Worship service at 10:15am followed by a delightful coffee hour, which will include yummy locavore goodies and fair trade coffee. You will also have the opportunity to have a free bike check-up and some information about biking in Chicago. Most miles ridden and most dollars collected will receive prizes from our local bike shop, "Andersonville Bikes & Fitness!"

                                                    Donating


                                                    All donations will go to Care for Real, a vital organization of Andersonville, and Edgewater's sole food and clothing pantry! Link here to discover more about their new facility as they expand to meet the growing needs in our community.  To donate you may do so by either sponsoring a participating cyclist per mile or simply choosing your own level of giving. Please read below for more information on this donating process.

                                                    How to sponsor cyclists...
                                                    1) If you want to sponsor a cyclist based on mileage, please e-mail Chas at unitylutheran@ameritech.net. In the e-mail message, please specify (1) the cyclist you wish to sponsor, (2) the amount per mile you would like to donate (ex. $1/mi), (3) your name, and (4) your e-mail address. After the total miles have been calculated and finalized, Chas will e-mail you back to let you know how many miles your cyclist totaled and information on how to complete the sponsoring process.

                                                    2)  If you would like to sponsor a cyclist by giving a $5, $10, $20, etc. donation simply click on the donate link below to make your donation. Be sure to put "Bike For Real" in the description box. That way we know that the donation you are making is to go to Care For Real. If you wish to donate in honor of a cyclist please be sure to add the cyclist's name that you wish to sponsor in the description box.
                                                    Then click on the donate button below, which will direct you to either pay using PayPal or Credit Card.
