Description
Unity Lutheran Church & Community Center (Unity) is seeking an Artist in Residence (AiR) to work with the Unity ArtWorks Team (Team) for a term of one year. 
The volunteer Team is made up of representatives from the clergy, administration, space sharing partners, congregation, and the AiR of Unity. ArtsWorks strives to support, promote, and enrich the community through arts programming. We are dedicated to building a rich and vibrant arts experience, where all are welcome without exception.
 
Qualifications
The AiR must be passionate about the arts, be a good communicator and organizer, work closely with Unity, have distinct artistic skills and be an accomplished leader for the Team.

​Duties & Responsibilities of AiR
The AiR is encouraged to think and work creatively with Unity’s arts programming in its neighborhood and community, and for the building up of their own resume.
The AiR meets with the Team weekly, or as needed and mutually decided upon.
The AiR interacts with Unity on Sundays at worship and coffee hour whenever possible.
The AiR is the lead organizer for exhibits in The Gallery at Unity (The Gallery)

The Team organizes and hosts approximately 6-9 art exhibits a year in The Gallery.  Our focus is on congregation, social justice subjects and themes, and Juried shows open to Chicago artists.   
 
The AiR partners with the Team to conduct monthly community art workshops.    
 
The AiR may partner with the Pastor and Director of Music to enhance the arts in worship.
 
The AiR may work with the Center Director on arts programming and Concerts at Unity.
 
The AiR is accountable to the Pastor.
 
The AiR must give 30-days written notice of intent to terminate employment.
Duties & Responsibilities of Unity
This is a non-paid position. The AiR will be provided an art studio at Unity and one solo exhibit in The Gallery at Unity in exchange for 8-10 hours work per week.
 
The Team will provide a semi-annual performance review and opportunity for mutual dialog, goal setting, and conflict resolution.
