    Chief Wayne Gulliford
    Bureau of Patrol
    Chicago Police Department (CPD)
    3510 South Michigan Avenue
    Chicago, IL 60653

    Dear Chief Gulliford,

This letter is in support of ONE Northside Mental Health Justice Group's campaign to increase the number of Chicago police officers to 800 trained in the Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) program by June of 2015. This goal ensures that persons experiencing crises in mental illness gain the treatment they need in the community rather than being put in prison.

Increasing the number of CIT -trained Officers will help to ensure the safety of persons in crises and police officers. People in mental health crisis do not belong in jail! Join with us in working to make Chicago the leading city nationwide in ending the stigma associated with mental illness.

Cc: Chicago Police Department Superintendent Garry McCarthy
